Job Description
We are seeking passionate and hard-working Direct Support Professional(s) to join our growing team of Direct Support Professionals. The Direct Support Professional will be focused on assisting and participating in the direct care services of mentally/physically disabled individuals in a group home setting. The Direct Support Professional will report directly to the Residential Manager.Job Responsibilities
As a Direct Support Professional, you will primarily be responsible for duties such as physical care, behavioral intervention and activities of daily living. The Direct Care Healthcare Associate will also be communicating with individuals and helping them fulfill their needs in this position. Other responsibilities for the Direct Support Professional will include:
- Support the individual(s) to develop strategies, make informed choices and follow through on responsibilities.
- Utilize modes of communication that are appropriate to the communication needs of the individual(s).
- Completes assigned areas in preparation for the Individual Support Plan utilizing appropriate assessment tools.
Requirements
- Ability to follow, implement and perform safety skills necessary for the safety of all individuals and self.
- Ability to transfer and lift individuals with or without assistance and to occasionally push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Physical Crisis Intervention skills are required in some locations/situations.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- One year of experience in human services in preferred or equivalent combination of experience and training is acceptable.
- Valid driver's license is required unless programmatic circumstances permit.
